You'll learn the 6 most effective techniques to replace a
formula with its output in this Excel tutorial for beginners. It is quite vital for you as a
novice. You'll need to employ Excel formula and functions from time to time as
you progress. The formula must be written in an empty cell because most
functions require multiple references. You may need to delete the reference
cell, row, or column once you've found the result. This is when you'll run into
a problem with your formula. You can get around this by converting the formula
to a value. Your first name is in column A, and your last name is in column B,
for example. In column C, you must now join the first and last names. You can
do that via a function, as seen in this video (https://youtu.be/kON7LGHFcyw).
What if you need to remove columns A and B from the workbook your formula will
fail if these two columns are removed. We may need to eliminate the complete
formula while preserving the formula result in some cases. These are the most
common, yet critical, scenarios you may encounter.
So, we're going to try six different approaches. The
following are the details.
1st procedure: To clear up the formula in Excel by keeping
data, we'll utilize a notepad or any other text editor. To begin, copy the
cells containing the formula and paste them into a notepad. Copy them again and
paste them into the cell where you originally copied them. When I was a newbie,
this was my only option.
2nd Procedure: Begin by copying the formula into
the cells. From the "Ribbon," select the "Home" tab. Look
for the term "Clipboard Group." Select "as value" from the
dropdown menu that appears below the "Paste Icon." The formula will
be removed, leaving only the value.
3rd Procedure: For this one, all you'll need is a
mouse. Copy the formula-filled cell before using the right-click button. After
that, select "As values." The formula will be removed, and only the
formula result will be pasted.
4th Procedure: This is where the shortcut for
removing the formula while preserving the values in Excel comes in. However,
you must first copy the formula cell and then press Alt + E + S + V before
clicking the shortcut. Now simply click OK to complete the process.
5th Procedure: Select and copy the formula-filled
cell. Press Shift + F10 now. When the context menu appears, press V. This will
also eliminate the formula, leaving simply the values.
6th Procedure: This is the most efficient method
for converting the formula result to a value. Hover your cursor over the cell
gridline to see how it works. Your mouse cursor will turn into a four-sided
arrow. Drag and drop the transformed data where you want it by clicking the
right mouse button. When you let go of the mouse button, a menu will appear.
Now select "Copy As Values" from the drop-down menu. This will only
return the formula result as a value, not the formula itself.
These were my six methods for converting formula results into Excel values. Please tell me how you transformed your formula result into a value up to this point, and which method you plan to utilize in the future. If you know of any additional methods for translating formulas to values, please share them in the comments. Thank you so much for coming. Please supportus by becoming a patron.
